  • Dear World,

I'd like to be able to tell you some AMAZING story about how I got my broken foot, like I saved a baby from a burning building and when I climbed out the window I landed on my foot wrong and broke it but it's okay because at least the baby is safe! BUT that's just a fairy tale. The truth is, I was running downstairs late for an appointment, stepped onto a stair wrong, slipped, fell forward, and heard a *crack* on my way to my not-so-soft landing, sustaining multiple injuries including a pulled tendon on my left leg, pulled wrists, sprained right ankle, and broken right foot. The kicker? My middle name is GRACE. Oh, the irony.

My week has been going well, despite the non-functioning foot. I'm flying down to Southern California later on this month for a few weeks and during my trip down there, I'm taking a mini side-trip to the Big Apple. Yes, I will still be in my cast, but the doc says I can start putting weight on my foot this week but to stop if it hurts. I'll just do it little by little each day.

Just had to vent. This is what happens when you spend most of your day at home alone!

  • On the Topic of Love...

I read this great blog on Datingish.com titled, "Was Tennyson Correct?" Basically it asked if the most famous line from one his "In Memoriam" poem: "'Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all" was true or not. My response? YES. Tennyson was absolutely correct. Take this case in point:

My cousin's friend passed away the day before last Christmas Eve. She was 23. Her boyfriend was--correction, IS--madly in love her and completely heartbroken. If you ask him the question, "Was Tennyson correct?" what do YOU think his answer would be?

Whether a love or relationship ended via death or a bad break-up, distance, misunderstanding, etc., we should all learn that LOVE supercedes LIFE, and a LIFE without LOVE is, well, nothing.

Anyone who thinks Tennyson's line is false has yet to fall in love or has had more negative experiences with relationships than positive ones (a positive one is coming up, I promise--God wouldn't have it any other way).

I wonder what everyone else thinks out there?

  • Florida Court Sets Atheist Holy Day

You must read this......a proper decision by the courts...for a change.

FLORIDA COURT SETS ATHEIST HOLY DAY

In Florida, an atheist created a case against the upcoming Easter and Passover Holy days. He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case against Christians and Jews and observances of their holy days. The argument was that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized days.

The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring,"Case dismissed!"

The lawyer immediately stood objecting to the ruling saying, "Your Honor, how can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter, and others. The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur, and Hanukkah, yet my client and all other atheists have no such holidays.."

The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, "But you do. Your client, counsel, is woefully ignorant."

The lawyer said, "Your Honor, we are unaware of any special observance or holiday for atheists."

The judge said, "Psalm 14:1 states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.' Thus, it is the opinion of this court, that, if your client says there is no God, then he is a fool. The calendar says April 1st is April Fools Day. Therefore, April 1st is his day. Court is adjourned."

You gotta love a Judge that knows his scripture!

This is too good not to share!

**Edit from Karen** Although this entire story is false (according to this Snopes article: http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/atheist.asp) I just thought it was a really good, interesting story to share!

  • Seven Percent

This is something we should all read at least once a week!

Written by Regina Brett, 90 years old, of the local newspaper "The Plain Dealer", Cleveland, Ohio
"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most-requested column I've ever written.
My odometer (BDay) rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:

    1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
    2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
    3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
    4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.
    5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
    6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
    7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
    8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
    9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
    10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
    11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
    12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
    13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
    14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
    15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye.
    16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
    17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
    18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
    19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
    20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.
    21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
    22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
    23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
    24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
    25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
    26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'
    27. Always choose life.
    28. Forgive everyone everything.
    29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
    30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.
    31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
    32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
    33. Believe in miracles.
    34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
    35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
    36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.
    37. Your children get only one childhood.
    38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
    39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
    40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.
    41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
    42. The best is yet to come.
    43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
    44. Yield.
    45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift."

It's estimated that 93% won't share this. If you are one of the 7% who will, re-post/re-send this with the title '7%'.
